We usually take capsules and tablets when we have illnesses or ailments. They are prescribed drugs formulated to rid ourselves of sickness and other conditions we might have. In some cases, we tend to take some drugs together or in one go because it is convenient. Others beelieve that it will quicken the healing or recovery process.

But apparently, taking some capsules and tablets together might not be good option. According to the Facebook Page "Trending Newsfeed Info," you cannot take some drugs in one go or mix them, no matter how convenient it may be for you. It is to be noted that the page did not cite any specific or verified source and as such, their information should only be taken with a grain of salt.

They noted that people shouldn't take these drugs together:

1. Alaxan and Biogesic
2. Alaxan and Neozep
3. Neozep and BioFlu
4. Alaxan and BioFlu
5. Alaxan and Medicol
6. Neozep and Biogesic
7. Biogesic and BioFlu

According to them, Alaxan and Biogesic  tablets contain paracetamol. They cited that you may have paracetamol overdose if you take the two together. Once this happens, you may have liver failure or cancer.

Unilab cited that an Alaxan tablet contains 325 milligrams of paracetamol. Meanwhile, a Biogesic tablet have 500 milligrams of the same dosage. Taking these drugs together will have your body receive 825 milligrams of paracetamol.

The website of Better Health Channel confirmed that paracetamol overdose ma cause one to have liver damage. They Noted:

Apart from that, the Facebook Page mentioned that you shouldn't take Neozep and BioFlu together because they allegedly contain the same chemical - Paracetamol-Phenylephrine Chlorpheniramine Maleate.

An individual who runs the blog "LezzDoThis" also noted that Neozep and BioFlu have the same generic name of Phenylephrine HCI Chlorphenamine Maleate Paracetamol.

Meanwhile, Alaxan and Medicol pills contain ibuprofen, which is anti-inflammatory. According to Medline Plus, overdosing in ibuprofen would cause you to have blurred vission. heartburn, nausea, low blood pressure, stomach pain, severe headaches, and convulsions, amung others.

The Facebook Page also noted that one shouldn't take paracetamol tablets with alcohol. They alleged that alcohol combined with the drugs would creat toxic chemical lethal enough to supposedly destroy the liver.

They also said that these drugs are supposedly the primary cause of gastric ulcer because of its anti-referring to those with ibuprofen.

  1. I agree with you that we should take precaution in taking any medication. But I also believe that OTD (over the counter drugs) are safe as long as taken on the right time, right dose, prescribed length of time.

  2. The information that is currently circulation in the internet is misleading and people are given false and unverified information. With that, UNILAB (the maker of some of the mentioned medicines) clarified that there are no truth to what the post is suggesting. While it is true that over dosage to medicines are factual, occurrence of major illness like cancer is not true moreover, there is no existing report from World Health Organization (WHO) that the above mentioned medicines are harmful when taken simultaneously. Thank you!
